The Friday Rally has struggled.  From the beginning it has changed identities, changed formats, and changed its purpose. This indecision has caused the site to be inconsistent, uninspiring, and it certainly doesn’t provide any value to anyone else.

I don’t want that. Nobody wants that.

There was a time in the life of TFR that posts were added regularly but the content seemed to be searching for its true north. I fully buy into the theory that success is largely, if not entirely, due to the self discipline of taking consistent action over ling periods of time. For this site I thought I could post articles every week and eventually some year there would be success.

While I still think that this work ethic is necessary it isn’t quite the whole picture. There also needs to be laser focus on the Just Cause.

The concept of a Just Cause has been rattling around in my brain for a long time but I have never had the right words to really crystallize the idea. I recently finished the book The Infinite Game by Simon Sinek and he opened my eyes to this term, which is perfect.

So, what is a Just Cause? It is what provides the meaning behind doing. Doing whatever it is you do. It has to be inspiring, it has to be timeless, and ultimately it is unachievable.

This is what TFR lacked. This is why the posts are irregular and the content doesn’t provide value.

The good news is there is a Just Cause that guides the Friday Rally. It has been on the About page of this site for a very long time. I just haven’t been using it as a guide for the content, how silly.

But today is a new day, actually it is a new decade. I almost didn’t post this today because I don’t like new year’s resolutions. If you want to make a change in your life do it as soon as you can, don’t wait for “some day” to come. Today, however, is the day I wanted to make this change so it is coming out today.

The Just Cause is going to inspire this website and point it to its true north, the discipline and hard work is going to be the engine that drives it to the destination. That destination that we will never reach, but die seeking. To match the lives we are living to our maximum potential.
