Go Streaking

There is one idea that has done more for me and my goals than any other single thing. Goal streaks.

Real success comes from continuous and relentless work. Working on your goals day after day without fail. Even if it is hard, even if you don’t want to, even if it feels like you are making no progress. Keep track and don’t break your streak.

I have known about this for a very long time. But like every other tactic or strategy of success, it is hard.

A little progress each day no matter how small is far superior to achieving goals than waiting for big days of inspired action and motivation.

Inspiration and motivation are completely unreliable. It certainly feels good but ultimately they are a let down. What you need to implement is a simple task that you can do every day that builds upon your goal.

It is the consistency that gets you to your goal not the hype.

But, it is critical that what you choose to work on is actually moving you towards you goal. A lot of people deceive themselves thinking they are working hard and making progress when actually they are just spinning their wheels. They are working on things that are adjacent to their true goal.

I don’t think anyone really can deceive themselves. We all know when we are not doing what we should be doing, or working on something other than what we know will move us forward. But, it feels good to be active even if it isn’t in the direction we want to go.

Cut it out.

Only work on the things that matter. Work on them everyday no matter how little progress you make. Always be moving forward.
